KARACHI – Police have identified the prime suspect in the murder of senior lawyer Khawaja Shamsul Islam as Imran Afridi, son of a former gunman, according to DIG South Asad Raza.
Authorities revealed that Imran Afridi had previously attacked Khawaja Shamsul Islam months ago and held a personal grudge, alleging that the lawyer was responsible for the death of his father in 2021. The murder is now being investigated as a targeted killing stemming from a longstanding personal vendetta.
In response, Karachi police have launched an extensive manhunt to apprehend the fugitive. A comprehensive arrest strategy has been implemented, with police setting up blockades at all major exit points from the city. Security has been tightened at Sohrab Goth bus stands and on key intercity routes to prevent Afridi’s escape.
Law enforcement agencies are stopping and inspecting every outgoing vehicle and bus, while photographs and identification details of Imran Afridi have been distributed across all police checkpoints.
