KARACHI, August 7: A judicial magistrate in Malir has granted physical remand of four individuals, including police officials, in connection with the alleged murder of a youth inside Shah Latif Town Police Station.

The suspects include Station House Officer (SHO) Sadruddin Mirani, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Saleem Mughal, and two civilians, Atif and Shahzaib. They are being investigated for their alleged roles in the custodial killing and subsequent cover-up.

According to the investigation officer, Atif and Shahzaib brought a man to the police station on suspicion of robbery. An altercation reportedly broke out inside the premises, during which Atif allegedly opened fire, killing the man on the spot.

SHO Mirani and ASI Mughal are accused of tampering with the crime scene by deleting CCTV footage and attempting to erase all evidence of the incident. The officials are also charged with obstructing justice and concealing material facts related to the murder.

The court has remanded all four suspects into police custody until August 8 to allow further investigation into the incident.
