PESHAWAR – At least five police personnel were martyred and eight others sustained serious injuries in a series of militant attacks targeting law enforcement in various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday night, 24NewsHD TV channel reported.

According to security sources, militants carried out separate assaults in Upper Dir, Lower Dir, Peshawar, and Bannu. In Peshawar’s Hassan Khel area, one police officer was martyred and another wounded during an encounter.

In Upper Dir, three policemen lost their lives and six others were injured when militants ambushed a police van. Meanwhile, in Lower Dir, one policeman was martyred after militants attacked a police checkpoint.

Officials said the wave of attacks highlights the persistent threat faced by security forces in KP, despite ongoing operations to curb militant activity in the province.
