Pakistan Faces World’s Highest Diabetes Rate Over 3.4 Million at Risk of Severe Foot Complications ‎

Pakistan has the highest prevalence of diabetes in the world, with medical experts warning that one in every ten diabetic patients in the country suffers from diabetic foot a condition that puts over 3.4 million people at risk of serious wounds or amputations.

‎Speaking at the inauguration of a modern multi disciplinary clinic in Karachi, Professor Zahid Mian stressed that diabetes is the leading cause of kidney failure and amputations worldwide, and one of the top contributors to stroke. These are not just numbers they represent lives being lost or permanently changed, he said.

‎Health experts cautioned that diabetes is silently fueling a dangerous rise in heart attacks, strokes, kidney failure, vision loss, and long-term disabilities across the nation.
