KARACHI: The Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH) has secured its third consecutive Platinum Performance Achievement Award from the American College of Cardiology (ACC), marking another major international recognition for its cardiac care services.
The award recognises AKUH’s consistent delivery of evidence-based and guideline-directed treatment to patients suffering from heart attacks. The recognition is part of the ACC’s Chest Pain–MI Registry programme, which evaluates hospitals on their performance in caring for patients with acute myocardial infarction.
AKUH’s latest achievement highlights its continued focus on clinical excellence, patient safety and timely cardiac treatment. The hospital has previously received international recognition for meeting established standards in heart attack care and improving treatment practices.
The Platinum distinction is considered the highest level within the ACC’s performance achievement programme. Hospitals receiving the award must demonstrate strong adherence to recommended treatment protocols and quality-of-care measures for heart attack patients.
AKUH officials said the consecutive recognition reflects the dedication of its healthcare teams and their commitment to maintaining international standards in cardiovascular medicine.
The achievement also reinforces AKUH’s position as one of Pakistan’s leading healthcare institutions, particularly in the field of specialised cardiac and emergency care. Its emergency department includes a dedicated cardiac emergency facility and operates around the clock to provide urgent treatment for patients with life-threatening conditions.
The hospital said its continued alignment with international best practices remains focused on improving outcomes and providing safer, more effective treatment for heart patients.
