BATTAGRAM — At least 10 people have been confirmed dead while dozens remain missing after devastating lightning strikes and flash floods swept through Union Council Shamlai in Battagram district.
Local sources reported that between six to eight houses were washed away, while nearly 30 to 40 residents were carried off by powerful floodwaters. Rescue teams have been mobilized, but the rugged terrain and difficult access are severely hampering relief operations.
Authorities confirmed that six bodies were initially recovered, with more victims found in subsequent searches. Efforts to locate the remaining missing persons are ongoing.
Shocked residents have urgently appealed to the government for immediate rescue and relief measures to prevent further loss of life.
