LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore on Saturday handed over Sher Shah, nephew of former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan, to police on a five-day physical remand in connection with the May 9 Jinnah House attack case.

ATC Judge Mazhar Ali Gill presided over the hearing, where police sought a 30-day physical remand. The investigation officer informed the court that Sher Shah was present at the Jinnah House alongside Hassan Niazi during the violent protests and could be seen in video footage among the crowd involved in vandalism and arson.

DSP Javed Asif also presented a video clip in court, alleging that Sher Shah was inciting PTI workers and supporters to damage and set fire to the historic building. The IO said that the suspect’s photogrammetric test and scrutiny of his social media accounts were still pending.

Defence counsel Salman Akram Raja rejected the allegations, arguing that police were harassing members of Imran Khan’s family. He maintained that Sher had been falsely implicated, stressing that he was arrested 27 months after the incident.

“Only yesterday, Sher was not wanted in any case. He was arrested after leaving court, where he had gone to express solidarity with his brother already in custody,” Raja told the court. He requested the court to dismiss the case and acquit his client.
