ISLAMABAD – The Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) has increased the minimum passing marks for all subjects from 33% to 40%, effective from the 2026 annual examinations.

An FBISE official confirmed that the new rule will apply to students appearing in SSC-I and HSSC-I exams next year.

The board stated that the revision aims to enhance academic standards and align Pakistan’s evaluation system with international benchmarks.

The decision was made following recommendations from the Inter-Board Coordination Commission (IBCC), which recently reviewed grading and assessment policies across national education boards.
