Pakistan Solid at Stumps on Day 1 Rizwan, Salman Agha Shine in Lahore Test

At the end of Day 1 in the first Test between Pakistan and South Africa at Lahore, the hosts posted a solid 313 for 5 on the board. After losing opener Abdullah Shafique in the very first over, Pakistan’s middle order stepped up brilliantly.

Shan Masood and Imam-ul-Haq steadied the innings with positive intent before both fell after promising starts. Later, Mohammad Rizwan (62)* and Salman Agha (52)* took charge, stitching together an unbeaten 114-run partnership that brought Pakistan back into control.

The duo’s patience and composure blunted the South African attack led by Simon Harmer, who managed just one wicket in 28 overs.

With Rizwan and Agha set at the crease, Pakistan will look to push the total past 400 on Day 2 and put South Africa under pressure early in the match.
