London, Oct 13 (ProPK Staff) — Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai has revealed that her first experience smoking weed at Oxford University resurfaced traumatic memories of the Taliban’s 2012 assassination attempt on her life.

In an interview with The Guardian, the 28-year-old activist said she tried a bong for the first time at a student gathering, but the experience led to vivid flashbacks of the attack when she was just 15. “I had never felt so close to the attack as then,” she said, describing the haunting moment she believed she had died.

Malala recalled collapsing while trying to reach her dorm room as sounds of gunfire and images of blood overwhelmed her mind. “I thought nothing could scare me — and then I was scared of small things, and that just broke me,” she admitted.

With therapy and support, she said she slowly found healing and regained emotional balance.

Now married to Asser Malik, Malala serves as the executive chair of the Malala Fund, continuing her global mission to champion girls’ education and empowerment.
