Jinnah University for Women Signs MoU with OWSD Pakistan National Chapter

KARACHI: The Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World – Pakistan National Chapter (OWSD-PNC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Jinnah University for Women, Karachi, to establish a collaborative partnership focused on advancing academic research, promoting industry engagement, and strengthening academia–industry linkages.

The MoU signing ceremony was held at the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Raza Shah, Director ICCBS.

Prof. Dr. Bina Siddiqui, a distinguished Pakistani scientist from the HEJ Research Institute of Chemistry, ICCBS, and Ms. Shagufta Noreen, Chairperson of the Department of Biotechnology at Jinnah University for Women, signed the agreement on behalf of OWSD and Jinnah University, respectively. Senior officials and faculty members from both institutions attended the event.

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Raza Shah appreciated the initiative and termed it an important step toward promoting scientific collaboration and strengthening the link between academia and industry in Pakistan.

Prof. Dr. Bina Siddiqui highlighted that OWSD works to empower women scientists from developing countries and to enhance their contributions to science, technology, and innovation.

Under the agreement, both institutions will jointly organize conferences, seminars, workshops, and awareness programs, particularly focusing on STEM education and increasing women’s participation in science.
