KARACHI – Police have registered a case over the killing of two men in a shooting incident near Siddiq Akbar Mosque, Nagan Chowrangi, North Karachi. The case was filed by the brother of one of the victims, with murder and terrorism sections included.

According to police, two unidentified suspects on a motorcycle opened fire at a shop named Zam Zam Cap and Perfume House, leaving 32-year-old Shah Ahmed Pirzada and 24-year-old Abu Bakar critically injured. Both were taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where they succumbed to their injuries.

Police recovered five spent bullet casings of a 9mm pistol from the scene and obtained CCTV footage showing one assailant entering the shop and firing indiscriminately, while the other waited outside on the motorcycle. SSP Central Zeeshan Shafiq Siddiqui confirmed that the case has been registered under Sections 302, 34, and 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act against unknown suspects.

Authorities believe the shooting was a targeted attack. The victims were reportedly affiliated with Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ). Police are investigating whether the attack is linked to recent sectarian incidents in Karachi.

CTD officials have joined the investigation to determine the motive and possible connections with earlier killings in the city.

Leaders of ASWJ condemned the attack, criticizing the government for failing to protect their members. They demanded the immediate arrest of the culprits, describing the incident as part of an ongoing wave of targeted killings against their workers.
