KARACHI: A shocking incident occurred in the city’s Gulberg area, where a married couple was found dead inside their home under mysterious circumstances.
Police said the bodies of a 35-year-old man, Khuda Bux son of Allah Bux, and his 30-year-old wife, Yasmeen, were recovered from their residence, House No. B-182, Rehmanabad Block 5, near Muhammadi Mosque in Federal B Area.
According to officials, upon entering the house, officers discovered the woman’s throat slit and her body lying in a pool of blood, while the man was found hanging from a ceiling fan in the same room. Forensic experts were called to collect evidence from the crime scene, after which both bodies were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital via Edhi ambulances for medico-legal formalities.
A police spokesperson confirmed that the deceased were husband and wife and parents of five children. Their family originally hailed from Bhakkar, Punjab, and had moved to Karachi around five years ago.
The deceased man’s brother-in-law, Muhammad Hanif, told media that the couple often argued but never had any major disputes. On the night of the incident, Hanif said he spoke to Yasmeen around 10 PM and planned to visit them, but she asked him to come the next morning. Around midnight, the couple’s elder son, Rashid, arrived at Hanif’s home and informed him that both parents were dead.
Hanif further said that the couple’s elder sons had gone to work, while their two younger children and a daughter were sleeping in the courtyard. Upon returning, the boys found the bedroom locked from inside. When they peeked through the window, they saw their father hanging from the ceiling and their mother lying in a pool of blood.
After completing legal formalities, police handed over the bodies to the family and issued a no-objection certificate (NOC) to transport them to Punjab for burial. Investigators are probing whether the case involves murder followed by suicide or a double homicide.
