Islamabad — Authorities at Islamabad International Airport stopped Awami Muslim League chief Sheikh Rashid Ahmed from boarding a flight to Saudi Arabia for Umrah, official sources confirmed on Saturday.

According to airport officials, Sheikh Rashid was offloaded before departure due to his name reportedly being placed on the no-fly list. The politician had arrived at the airport with a confirmed ticket and travel documents, but was informed at the immigration counter that he could not proceed abroad.

Sheikh Rashid expressed disappointment over the incident, calling it “unjustified and politically motivated.” However, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has not yet issued an official statement regarding the reason for his travel restriction.

Political observers note that the move could further heighten tensions between the opposition and the federal government.
