Indian Film ‘Dharindar’ Sparks Controversy for Alleged Anti-Pakistan Narrative Ahead of Release

Indian film “Dharindar” has stirred controversy even before its release after the trailer drew strong criticism for depicting Pakistan in a negative and hostile manner, triggering debate across social media and film circles. The newly released trailer features confrontational dialogues and visuals that many viewers believe directly target Pakistan, raising concerns that the film uses political tension as a storytelling tool.

The backlash spread quickly on X, Instagram, and YouTube, where users accused the filmmakers of relying on “anti-Pakistan propaganda” to generate hype. Pakistani audiences called the portrayal “misleading” and “provocative,” while several Indian commentators also criticized the film for oversimplifying complex regional issues.

In response, the producers released a short statement insisting that “Dharindar” is a fictional story with no intention of targeting any specific country. However, analysts argue that the tone, imagery, and language used in the trailer strongly mirror real geopolitical narratives, making the denial unconvincing for many.

Industry observers say the situation highlights a recurring pattern where certain Bollywood films use sensitive cross-border themes for dramatic impact, often ignoring the diplomatic climate. With the movie set to release next month, it remains uncertain whether the controversy will damage its reception or amplify public interest through increased attention.
