The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) Islamabad has arrested a suspect and registered a case against him for illegally accessing a woman’s social media accounts, stealing personal data, and blackmailing her using objectionable images.
According to officials, the victim filed a complaint stating that the suspect, identified as Rizwanullah, unlawfully gained access to her social media accounts and extracted personal data. The suspect allegedly later used objectionable images to blackmail her through WhatsApp.
Following the complaint, NCCIA conducted an inquiry and found the allegations to be substantiated. Subsequently, a team led by Investigation Officer Sub-Inspector Misbah Batool carried out a raid and arrested the accused.
Authorities further stated that the suspect also threatened the victim via mobile phone calls, demanding money and warning that the images would be made public if his demands were not met.
A forensic analysis of the mobile phone recovered from the suspect reportedly yielded conclusive evidence of the crime. As a result, a case has been registered against the accused under Sections 21 and 24 of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) 2016, and further investigation is underway.
