Karachi: The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) conducted a raid at Baghdadi Police Station and detained a sub-inspector posted in the investigation branch, police sources confirmed.
Following the detention, the officer was shifted to the SIU office located at the CIA Centre, Saddar, for further questioning.
Sources said the sub-inspector was taken into custody on suspicion of maintaining links with Lyari gang war figure Wasiullah Lakho and his associates. Authorities are also probing allegations that the officer facilitated gang members in extortion activities.
Further investigation into the matter is currently underway.
