‎A new study has found that a diet rich in processed foods can affect the ability to maintain concentration.

‎New research conducted by Monash University, University of São Paulo and Deakin University has revealed that consuming large amounts of processed (factory-made) foods can affect the brain’s ability to stay focused and increase the risk of Dementia.

‎Published in the Alzheimer’s & Dementia: Diagnosis, Assessment & Disease Monitoring, the study analyzed the diet and mental health of more than 2,100 Australian individuals who were free of dementia and were middle-aged or older.

‎The results showed that even a slight increase in the daily intake of ultra-processed foods can lead to a noticeable decline in attention, even if a person appears to be consuming a healthy diet.

‎Lead researcher Barbara Cardoso, who is affiliated with Monash University’s Department of Nutrition, Dietetics and Food and the Victorian Heart Institute, said that the study clearly highlights a strong link between industrially produced food and cognitive decline.
