Sisters of former prime minister Imran Khan have called on the public to raise pressure after authorities once again denied them a meeting with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder at Adiala Jail.
Aleema Khan, Dr Uzma Khan, and Noreen Khan reached the prison to meet the incarcerated former premier, but jail authorities did not allow the meeting to take place. The family says the denial came despite an Islamabad High Court order permitting Imran Khan to meet family members, lawyers, and other associates twice a week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Speaking to reporters, Aleema Khan said the family had repeatedly been stopped from seeing Imran Khan and urged citizens and party supporters to speak out against the restrictions. She said the family was not demanding anything illegal and described the repeated denial of meetings as unjust.
The sisters have previously staged sit-ins near Adiala Jail after being refused access to Imran Khan. Similar protests were reported in December, when family members and PTI leaders gathered near the jail after a scheduled meeting was denied.
Imran Khan has been imprisoned in Adiala Jail since August 2023 in connection with multiple cases. His party and family have frequently expressed concern over restrictions on meetings, while authorities have maintained tight security around the jail during attempted visits and protests.
The latest denial is expected to further intensify political tensions between PTI supporters and the authorities, as Khan’s family continues to demand regular access in line with court directions.
