Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has officially announced the date for the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) 2026, bringing clarity for thousands of students preparing for admission into medical and dental colleges across Pakistan.
According to an official public notice issued by PMDC, MDCAT 2026 will be conducted nationwide on Sunday, August 16, 2026. The announcement was made through the council’s official channels and latest public notices section.
PMDC further confirmed that the syllabus and curriculum for MDCAT 2026 will remain the same as the 2025 syllabus, allowing students to continue their preparation without concerns over major academic changes. Authorities advised candidates to regularly check PMDC’s official website for registration schedules, roll number slips, examination centers, and other important updates.
The MDCAT is one of Pakistan’s most competitive entrance examinations and is mandatory for students seeking admission into MBBS and BDS programs in public and private medical and dental colleges nationwide. Every year, more than one hundred thousand students appear in the exam, competing for limited seats in medical institutions.
The announcement comes shortly after PMDC introduced changes to the overall MDCAT timeline, aiming to conduct the examination closer to intermediate board exams in order to streamline the admission process and reduce delays for students. Officials previously stated that the revised schedule would help students maintain academic continuity and speed up medical college admissions.
Education experts say the early announcement of the test date may help students plan their preparation more effectively, particularly those appearing in FSC pre-medical examinations this year. Coaching centers and academic institutions are also expected to intensify MDCAT preparation sessions following the official confirmation.
Meanwhile, students on social media welcomed the clarity regarding the examination schedule, though some also expressed concerns about the shorter preparation gap between FSC exams and MDCAT under the revised system.
PMDC has encouraged all aspiring medical students to rely only on official announcements and avoid misinformation circulating online regarding examination schedules or syllabus changes.
