The Peshawar High Court has sought a response from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government regarding the appointment of teaching faculty to administrative positions in public sector universities across the province. The court took up the matter amid concerns that several universities may have assigned teachers to administrative roles in violation of existing legal provisions governing higher education institutions.

During the proceedings, concerns were raised that faculty members were serving in key administrative offices instead of focusing on academic responsibilities. The issue relates to provisions of the KP Universities Act, which restrict the appointment of teaching staff to certain administrative posts. Authorities have been asked to clarify the legality of such appointments and explain whether university administrations complied with the relevant laws and regulations.

The court directed the provincial government and concerned university authorities to submit detailed reports regarding the number of teaching faculty members currently holding administrative positions, the nature of those appointments, and the duration of their service in such roles. The case is being viewed as significant for higher education governance and institutional accountability in the province.

Officials argue that adherence to legal requirements is essential to maintain academic standards and ensure that teaching and administrative responsibilities remain clearly separated. The court’s response is expected to influence future administrative appointments in public universities across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The Punjab government has announced an innovative “Libraries on Wheels” project for government schools in Lahore, aiming to promote reading habits and improve access to educational resources among students. The initiative is designed to bring books and digital learning tools directly to schools, particularly benefiting students who have limited access to library facilities. According to official details, the project is estimated to cost Rs198 million and will introduce a modern mobile library system across government schools in the provincial capital. Under the plan, 85 electric vehicles will be purchased and converted into mobile libraries. These vehicles will travel to schools carrying educational materials and digital resources for students. Each mobile library will be equipped with 20 modern tablets, enabling students to access digital learning content, educational applications, and online study materials. Education officials believe that combining traditional books with technology will create a more engaging learning environment and help students develop stronger reading and research skills. The initiative reflects the Punjab government's broader efforts to modernize the education sector and encourage a culture of reading among young learners. Authorities expect the project to enhance educational opportunities, support classroom learning, and provide students with greater exposure to both printed and digital knowledge resources.
