The University of Health Sciences (UHS) has introduced a comprehensive academic ranking system for all affiliated medical, dental, nursing, pharmacy, and allied health sciences institutions across Punjab. The initiative aims to improve the quality of medical education by establishing a structured framework for evaluating institutional performance and academic standards.
Under the new system, colleges will undergo regular academic audits, curriculum compliance reviews, and performance evaluations. Annual rankings will be based on key indicators such as teaching quality, assessment standards, clinical training, faculty development, research output, and student support services. UHS believes that continuous monitoring will help ensure higher educational standards and better learning outcomes for future healthcare professionals.
UHS Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Ahsan Waheed Rathore stated that the initiative is designed to promote accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement across health sciences institutions. He emphasized that quality medical education requires more than examinations and depends on effective curriculum implementation, faculty development, and institutional oversight.
To support the ranking framework, the university has assigned its Department of Medical Education the responsibility of academic quality assurance and curriculum monitoring. UHS also plans to introduce a real-time Academic Performance Dashboard that will track institutional performance indicators and help identify areas needing improvement.
According to the policy, top-performing institutions may receive recognition and priority opportunities for academic collaborations, research projects, and faculty development programs. Meanwhile, institutions with persistent deficiencies will face enhanced monitoring and corrective measures. The new ranking system has come into effect immediately and applies to all constituent and affiliated UHS institutions across Punjab.
