Islamabad: Pakistan’s weekly inflation, measured by the Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI), recorded a sharp 15.28 percent year-on-year increase, underscoring the continued rise in the cost of living across the country. The latest data shows that prices of several essential food items and household necessities have increased significantly, putting additional pressure on consumers already struggling with economic challenges.

According to official statistics, the inflationary trend was driven by higher prices of food commodities, utilities, and transportation-related expenses. Analysts say that while the economy has shown signs of stabilization in recent months, persistent inflation remains a major concern for households, particularly those belonging to low- and middle-income groups.

Economists warn that prolonged price increases can reduce purchasing power and slow consumer spending. They stress the need for effective government measures, including improved supply chain management and market monitoring, to curb unnecessary price hikes and protect vulnerable segments of society.

The latest inflation figures come at a time when policymakers are aiming to maintain economic growth while ensuring price stability. Experts believe that controlling inflation will be crucial for sustaining public confidence and supporting long-term economic recovery.
