ISLAMABAD, July 20: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has proposed the formation of a Truth and Reconciliation Commission to investigate the recent unrest in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and called on the federal government to immediately restore internet services ahead of the July 27 Legislative Assembly elections.
Addressing an election rally in Kotli, Bilawal said the commission should independently determine the facts surrounding the recent protests and violence in AJK. He urged protesters to suspend demonstrations while asking the government to halt further action until the commission completed its inquiry.
The PPP chairman also demanded the immediate restoration of internet services, arguing that ordinary citizens should not be deprived of communication facilities during the election campaign. He said the upcoming polls would be crucial in determining AJK’s political future and reaffirmed his party’s commitment to expanding constitutional rights and economic opportunities for the region.
Bilawal further criticised political opponents over alleged victimisation of PPP workers and expressed confidence that his party would perform strongly in the July 27 elections
