The death of a three-year-old girl in Karachi has triggered a police investigation following conflicting accounts of how she sustained fatal injuries. The child, identified as Minahil, was brought to a local hospital late Wednesday night, but doctors declared her dead on arrival.

Hospital staff noted visible marks on the girl’s body, prompting them to alert law enforcement immediately. While the family initially claimed she had fallen from a bed, investigators are questioning that narrative. The severity of the internal trauma suggests force beyond a simple tumble.

“We aren’t ruling anything out at this stage,” a senior police officer told reporters Thursday morning. “The inconsistencies in the family’s statement are why we have shifted this from a routine medical case to a formal criminal inquiry.”

The body has been moved to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for a post-mortem examination. Forensic experts are currently analyzing the trauma patterns, which officials say will be the deciding factor in whether a First Information Report (FIR) is registered against specific family members.

Neighbors in the area reported hearing shouting from the residence earlier in the evening, though few were willing to go on the record. Police have begun canvassing the neighborhood and are currently reviewing CCTV footage from nearby streets to establish a timeline of events leading up to the child’s arrival at the hospital.

For now, the parents remain in police custody for questioning. Investigators expect the preliminary autopsy report within 24 hours, which will determine if the case proceeds as a domestic homicide or remains under investigation for negligence.

Until the medical board releases its findings, the motive remains unknown—and the circumstances surrounding the child’s final hours are still being pieced together by detectives.
