RAWALPINDI — Grainy CCTV footage has surfaced, showing the final moments of TikToker Shamsoo Bibi before she was gunned down in Rawalpindi earlier this week. The video, which has begun circulating on social media, shows the victim walking near a residential area moments before an unidentified assailant approaches her and opens fire.
The footage confirms a targeted attack. The suspect, seen wearing a helmet to obscure his identity, fled the scene on a motorcycle immediately after the shooting. Police investigators are now using the clip to track the attacker’s escape route through the narrow lanes of the neighborhood.
Shamsoo Bibi, known for her lifestyle content on TikTok, had recently moved to the city. Her family has since filed a First Information Report (FIR) against unknown persons, though they have pointed toward a long-standing personal dispute.
“We gave names to the police, but the investigation is moving at a snail’s pace,” a family member said, speaking on the condition of anonymity due to security concerns.
For the Rawalpindi police, the challenge is twofold: identifying the shooter and determining if the murder was a contract killing or a personal vendetta. Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations) stated that forensic teams are enhancing the footage to identify the motorcycle’s license plate.
The murder has reignited a conversation about the safety of social media influencers in Pakistan. While the victim’s online persona made her a public figure, it also made her visible in ways that left her vulnerable.
As of Thursday evening, no arrests have been made. The police have cordoned off the area where the footage was recorded, hoping to find additional security camera angles from nearby shops to piece together the suspect’s movements before the encounter.
For now, the investigation rests on a few seconds of blurry footage — and a family waiting for answers that remain out of reach.
