A masked man spent hours prowling through a residential neighborhood, peering into bedroom windows and testing door handles, according to home-security footage released by local police Tuesday.
The video shows the suspect—clad in dark clothing and a full-face mask—moving methodically between houses in the quiet suburban development. In one clip, he stands inches from a window for nearly a full minute, watching the interior before moving to the next property.
Residents are on edge. Many have spent the last 24 hours reviewing their own camera feeds, only to find the same figure captured on their doorbells and perimeter sensors.
“It’s not just a quick walk-by,” said Sarah Miller, a resident whose camera recorded the man at 3:15 a.m. “He was checking every single handle. He wanted to see if anyone had been careless enough to leave a point of entry open.”
Police confirmed that no break-ins were reported during the suspect’s spree, but the intent remains clear. Investigators are treating the incident as an attempted burglary and stalking, noting that the man’s behavior suggests he was scouting for vulnerable targets rather than acting on impulse.
The suspect is described as being of average height and build. He carried a small flashlight, which he used sparingly to avoid detection. Despite the high-definition footage, his facial features remain obscured by a heavy mask and a hood pulled tight against his face.
Detectives are currently canvassing the area for additional doorbell camera footage to establish a timeline of his movements. They are asking neighbors to check their systems for any activity between 1:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m.
“This person is methodical,” a precinct spokesperson said. “He isn’t looking for a confrontation. He’s looking for a mistake.”
For now, patrol units have increased their presence in the area, but for those living on these streets, the sense of security has already been broken. Every shadow in the yard now carries the weight of a potential intruder.
