A domestic dispute in Faisalabad turned lethal Tuesday when a 65-year-old man beat his two grandsons to death with an iron rod. The incident, which took place in the Chak Jhumra area, has left the local community in shock as police begin a homicide investigation.
The suspect, identified as Muhammad Bashir, allegedly attacked the children—ages six and eight—following a heated argument with his daughter-in-law. Neighbors reported hearing screams from the household before the silence that followed. By the time local residents intervened, the two boys had succumbed to their injuries.
Police arrived at the scene shortly after the attack. They took the grandfather into custody and recovered the iron rod used in the assault. The bodies were moved to a nearby hospital for post-mortem examinations to confirm the exact cause of death.
“The suspect is currently being interrogated at the local station,” a police spokesperson said. Preliminary reports suggest a long-standing property and family dispute acted as a trigger, though investigators are still piecing together the events leading up to the violence.
Violence within domestic settings remains a persistent challenge in the region, often exacerbated by unresolved grievances and a lack of mediation. For this family, the conflict ended in a tragedy that has shattered the household.
The suspect remains in police custody, and formal charges are expected to be filed once the initial investigation concludes. For now, the house in Chak Jhumra is cordoned off, serving as a grim site for the ongoing inquiry.
