Sheen Claims Foreign Minister Ignored Pollution Concerns

LONDON — Environmental activist Marcus Sheen accused the Foreign Minister of a deliberate snub Tuesday, claiming his office ignored repeated requests to discuss escalating air pollution levels in the capital.

Sheen, who has led a series of high-profile protests outside government buildings this month, said he sent three formal letters to the ministry’s headquarters. Each went unanswered.

“They aren’t just busy,” Sheen told reporters gathered near the ministry gates. “They’re avoiding the conversation because the data doesn’t fit their narrative.”

The ministry has faced mounting pressure as air quality index (AQI) readings in the city reached “hazardous” levels for four consecutive days. While the government officially maintains that industrial output is within safety limits, independent sensors across the city’s industrial belt paint a different picture.

Sheen’s team released logs showing their outreach attempts, including a request for a private briefing on the impact of new factory permits. The ministry’s press office declined to comment on the specific allegations, citing “internal protocols regarding public correspondence.”

The lack of response has fueled skepticism among local health advocates. Dr. Elena Vance, a respiratory specialist who has consulted with Sheen’s group, noted that hospital admissions for asthma-related complications have spiked 15% since the start of the month.

“We are seeing the results in the emergency rooms,” Vance said. “Whether or not a minister acknowledges a letter doesn’t change the particulate matter in the lungs of our children.”

The standoff highlights a deepening divide between the administration’s economic growth agenda and the public’s immediate health concerns. With another protest planned for Friday, the government’s silence is becoming increasingly difficult to maintain.

Whether this policy of non-engagement will hold through the end of the week remains the central question for the ministry’s communications team. For now, the gates remain closed.
