SURJANI TOWN — Investigators have detained a close acquaintance of the family found murdered in their Surjani Town home earlier this week, marking the first significant breakthrough in a case that has rattled the neighborhood.

Police confirmed the suspect was picked up late Wednesday night following a forensic review of the victims’ mobile phone records and a sweep of the crime scene. Investigators found the four bodies—a man, his wife, and their two children—in a residence in Sector 5-C/3. The discovery followed reports from neighbors who noticed the home had been unusually quiet for days.

The suspect, whose name is being withheld pending further questioning, reportedly maintained frequent contact with the head of the household. While police officials stopped short of calling him the prime suspect, they noted his timeline of events had shifted during initial interviews.

“We are looking at financial motives as well as personal disputes,” a senior police official said. “The suspect’s movements near the time of the incident don’t align with what he told us yesterday.”

The post-mortem reports indicated the victims died from sharp-force injuries. Investigators recovered a weapon nearby, though forensic teams are still matching DNA evidence to confirm if it was the primary tool used in the attack.

For the residents of Surjani Town, the murders have brought a sharp sense of unease. Local families gathered outside the cordoned-off home yesterday, demanding faster results and a stronger police presence in the area. The neighborhood, often quiet, has seen a recent uptick in petty crime, leaving many to wonder if this tragedy was a targeted hit or a robbery gone wrong.

The police investigation now hinges on the interrogation of this acquaintance. If the suspect’s testimony fails to hold up against the digital evidence collected from the victims’ devices, charges are expected to be filed within the next 48 hours.

As the community waits for answers, the primary focus for the investigative team remains the motive. Until the suspect provides a clear narrative, the department is refusing to rule out the possibility of additional accomplices involved in the attack.
