President Asif Ali Zardari has emphasised the need to adopt research and development and technology-driven solutions to improve healthcare services and modernise Pakistan’s infrastructure.

The president made these remarks during a meeting with senior officials of Siemens Healthineers in Berlin, Germany. He appreciated Germany’s cooperation with Pakistan in healthcare, industry and infrastructure development.

The Siemens delegation included Executive Vice President Daniel Frisch and Head of Government Affairs Veronika Förster. The delegation briefed the president on the company’s activities in Pakistan and its ongoing cooperation to promote healthcare technology.

The delegation also informed the president that company representatives would visit Pakistan soon to engage with relevant stakeholders and sign memorandums of understanding aimed at strengthening healthcare capacity and promoting technological advancement. The company’s support also covers technologies related to the treatment of cancer, stroke and other diseases.

President Zardari stressed that access to quality and affordable healthcare is a fundamental right of every citizen. He particularly highlighted the importance of improving medical services for people living in remote and underserved areas.

The Siemens representative appreciated the initiatives undertaken by Sindh’s Health Department and expressed the company’s interest in expanding cooperation with Pakistan through advanced technologies and innovative solutions to strengthen healthcare infrastructure.

The president invited Siemens to increase its investment in Pakistan and expand cooperation beyond healthcare into other social and industrial sectors. He assured the delegation of full institutional support through the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC).

The meeting was also attended by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, Senator Saleem Mandviwalla, provincial ministers of Sindh and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Germany, Salman Sharif.
