LAHORE: The Punjab government is considering a proposal to recruit 1,600 school heads for government schools across the province, with a proposed monthly salary of Rs. 150,000.
The initiative aims to address vacant leadership positions in public schools and improve school administration. According to reports, more than 2,000 government schools across Punjab currently have vacant headship positions.
Under the proposed recruitment plan, candidates would have to pass a written examination conducted by the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC). Successful candidates would then appear for interviews before being selected for appointments at different schools.
In the first phase, selected candidates would be appointed on two-year contracts. Their contracts could be extended depending on their performance during the initial period.
The proposed recruitment drive is expected to fill 1,600 vacant positions and strengthen the management of government schools. School heads play an important role in supervising teachers, monitoring academic performance, maintaining discipline, and overseeing daily school operations.
However, the recruitment plan, salary package, and contract conditions have not yet received final approval. The government will seek approval from the relevant cabinet committee before starting the hiring process.
Interested candidates should wait for an official announcement for confirmed eligibility criteria, application dates, and other recruitment details.
