Pakistan’s stock market witnessed a sharp decline on Friday as investors rushed to book profits following a strong four-day rally.
The benchmark KSE-100 Index dropped by 1,493 points, or 0.85 percent, to close at 173,886 points.
During morning trading, the index had fallen by more than 2,000 points, reflecting selling pressure across the market.
According to market analysts, investors preferred to secure their recent gains ahead of the long weekend. Weak sentiment in international markets and ongoing economic and geopolitical uncertainties also contributed to the decline.
Major companies, including United Bank, Lucky Cement, Engro Holdings, Fauji Fertilizer and Pakistan Petroleum, were among the biggest contributors to the fall.
