Finance Minister Unveils FY26 Economic Vision in Post-Budget Press Briefing
June 11, 2025 – Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb held a post-budget press conference today, detailing the government’s fiscal roadmap for FY2025–26 following the presentation of a Rs17.57 trillion federal budget. The event, initially disrupted by a journalist walkout over the absence of a traditional Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) technical briefing, resumed after Information Minister Attaullah Tarar assured the session would be arranged.
Aurangzeb positioned the budget as a transformative milestone aimed at shifting Pakistan towards a competitive, export-led economy, describing it as an effort to “change the DNA” of the economic structure. Key budgetary goals include 4.2% GDP growth, 7.5% inflation, and a fiscal deficit target of 3.9% of GDP (Rs5,037 billion), down from 5.9% last year.
