Brussels – Former Foreign Minister and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has warned that regional tensions between Pakistan and India could intensify in the absence of diplomatic engagement. Speaking at a press briefing during his visit to Brussels, Bilawal stressed that the ongoing silence between the two nuclear powers poses a serious risk to regional peace and stability.
He accused the Indian government of continuously avoiding negotiations and warned that the situation in Kashmir and threats over shared water resources could spiral into a major conflict. “India’s statements about altering water flow under the Indus Waters Treaty could be interpreted as acts of war,” he said.
Bilawal is currently leading a high-level parliamentary delegation to Europe and the US in a bid to highlight Pakistan’s concerns and gather international support. He also proposed intelligence-sharing between Pakistan’s ISI and India’s RAW to tackle cross-border terrorism and called for the establishment of a dispute resolution mechanism.
Diplomatic observers believe the appeal signals Islamabad’s push for renewed talks amid growing geopolitical tensions in South Asia.
