In its new provincial budget, Punjab government has set aside Rs148 billion to the education sector as it emphasised on the steps to raise literacy levels and to develop the education infrastructure base.

This allocation is meant to improve the school infrastructure, employ additional teachers and increase the number of rural people who have access to quality education in urban and rural set ups. A large part of the investment budget will be dedicated to the improvement of the classrooms and fixing the free textbooks, as well introducing the digital learning instruments.

According to the officials, the investment will be an indicator of the fact that the government is committed to human capital development and the elimination of educational gaps in the province.

Learning experts were positive at the move because they believed that such move will result in an improved learning outcome and students will be equipped to face future challenges in a competitive world.
