A First in Pakistan’s History

In a groundbreaking moment, HEC Chairman Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad appeared as a holographic host, symbolizing the innovative spirit driving the project. He highlighted the transformative impact of this initiative, stating:

“We have provided the much needed technological support to the universities and students of Pakistan. With these technologies, our students can now compete with the top-ranked universities in the world, while universities can lower their costs and enhance efficiency.”

Abdul Haseeb, CEO and Managing Director of TMC, underscored the significance of the collaboration:

“Through this project, we are proud to contribute to a future where quality education is accessible, efficient, and inclusive. This partnership with HEC and the World Bank is a milestone in our mission to modernize Pakistan’s higher education landscape with locally developed, globally competitive solutions.”

Innovative Solutions for Higher Education

The Maktab ERP-SLCS streamlines university administration, covering admissions, course registration, examinations, and student records. Meanwhile, the Al-Fihri LMS named in honor of Fatima Al-Fihri, founder of the world’s oldest operational university offers students personalized, cloud-enabled learning accessible anytime, anywhere.

Key features include:

  • Cost reduction by minimizing paper use and operational expenses
  • Enhanced transparency and security with HEC’s Astrolabes datacenters and Jidar Network Security framework
  • Scalability and inclusion across multiple campuses
  • Flexible study plans and lifelong learning support

Building a Digital Education Ecosystem

The initiative is part of HEC’s broader vision of a national digital education ecosystem, which includes:

  • 7,000km of fiber connectivity
  • 20,000 Wi-Fi points across 96 Higher Education Institutions (HEIs)
  • Smart classroom infrastructure

With these developments, HEC aims to provide Pakistan’s students with world class educational resources, bridging the gap between tradition and modern innovation.
