Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has inaugurated the Ultima Research and Diagnostic Laboratory in Karachi, describing the facility as an important addition to the province’s healthcare sector.

The inauguration ceremony was held on May 6, 2026, where the chief minister was received by Sindh Health Minister Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho, Ultima Lab Chief Executive Officer Dr Fazalullah Pechuho, Health Secretary Tahir Sangi, senior health officials, and representatives of the laboratory.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said that modern diagnostic systems play a vital role in improving healthcare outcomes. He emphasized that accurate and timely test results help doctors provide better treatment and improve patient care.

The chief minister said that providing quality and affordable diagnostic facilities to the public is the need of the hour. He added that the new laboratory is equipped with advanced technology and will help meet the growing demand for reliable medical testing in Karachi and other parts of Sindh.

Murad Ali Shah also highlighted the Sindh government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the healthcare system. He said the provincial government is investing in major hospitals, tertiary care services, and child health facilities across Sindh. He further noted that partnerships with the private sector are important for expanding access to better healthcare services.

The chief minister said the government is working with organizations such as the ChildLife Foundation to improve services at major health institutions, including Jinnah Hospital and the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases.

Sindh Health Minister Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho also addressed the gathering and said that accessible and affordable diagnostic services remain a major need for patients. She said modern laboratories can reduce delays in diagnosis and support doctors in making timely medical decisions.

Ultima Lab CEO Dr Fazalullah Pechuho said the laboratory was established to provide reliable, cost-effective, and advanced testing services. He expressed hope that the facility would benefit people across the province by offering improved diagnostic support.

Health experts believe that modern diagnostic laboratories are essential for early detection of diseases, better treatment planning, and reducing pressure on hospitals. In a city like Karachi, where the population is rapidly increasing, the demand for quality diagnostic services continues to grow.

The inauguration of the laboratory is being seen as a positive step toward improving healthcare delivery in Sindh, especially through the use of advanced medical technology and public-private collaboration.
