A recent medical study conducted in Australia has revealed that Vitamin D obtained from sunlight is not only essential for bone health but also plays a crucial role in maintaining heart health.
According to the research, individuals with Vitamin D deficiency are more than twice as likely to develop heart diseases and high blood pressure.
Experts stated that although severe Vitamin D deficiency is rare, even a mild lack of it can negatively affect heart health.
They explained that people who spend most of their time indoors or in closed spaces and are less exposed to sunlight are more likely to face Vitamin D deficiency.
Researchers highlighted that while severe deficiency is uncommon, preventing moderate deficiency is very important to protect the heart from adverse effects especially for those who do not spend enough time outside in sunlight.
The study emphasized that maintaining adequate Vitamin D levels is vital to reduce the global burden of heart disease.
Experts further mentioned that although foods like fish, eggs, and fortified items are sources of Vitamin D, it is difficult to meet the body’s full requirement through diet alone.
They advised that sunlight remains the easiest, most natural, and cost free source of Vitamin D. However, if someone cannot spend sufficient time in sunlight daily, they should take Vitamin D supplements to maintain both heart and bone health.
