BEIJING — Chinese electric vehicle giant BYD reported a robust 21.8% year-on-year surge in global sales for July, reaching 419,211 vehicles as strong international demand successfully offset softer conditions in its domestic market. According to company statements, overseas shipments of passenger vehicles and pickups skyrocketed by 124.3% to 179,841 units during the month. This international momentum follows statements made at BYD’s annual shareholder meeting in Shenzhen, where Chairman Wang Chuanfu outlined an ambitious goal to make BYD the world’s largest automaker within the next five years, pointing to rapid export growth, advanced battery technology, and ultra-fast charging capabilities as the foundational drivers of the company’s global expansion.
