A claim that senior PML-Q leader Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has been elected Chairman of the Pakistan Bodybuilding Federation has exploded across social media and many local news outlets. According to reports, the federation’s president (Muhammad Tariq Hassan) and secretary (Sohail Anwar) allegedly announced the appointment during a meeting at Mr. Hussain’s Lahore residence.
Eyewitness social media posts and publications highlight that Mr. Shujaat congratulated national bodybuilders on their achievement of five gold medals in the Asian Bodybuilding Championship. These reports paint the appointment as a major honor and a symbol of renewed support for the sport.
However, the Federation itself has issued a strong denial: it says there is no chairman position in its organizational structure, and that Chaudhry Shujaat has not accepted any formal post.
Given these conflicting reports, the appointment remains unverified. As many observers have noted, given his age (79) and ongoing health concerns, the practicality of assuming an active leadership role in a physically demanding sports domain is also questioned by many.
Until a solid, official statement or documentary proof emerges, this seems like another case of social media hype outpacing the facts.
