‘Countdown’ for Federal Government Has Begun, Warns Sharjeel Memon

Karachi, August 3, 2026: Sindh Senior Minister and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Sharjeel Inam Memon has claimed that the “countdown” for the federal government has begun, alleging that the ruling coalition is rapidly losing public confidence and political support. His remarks came during a media interaction in Karachi, where he strongly criticised the Centre’s policies and governance.

Sharjeel Memon said the federal government has failed to address key national issues, including economic challenges, inflation, and development concerns. He argued that public dissatisfaction is increasing and maintained that the country’s political situation is moving toward a decisive phase.

The PPP leader also accused the Centre of neglecting Sindh, particularly Karachi, in major development projects. He reiterated that the province has repeatedly raised concerns over the lack of federal investment in infrastructure, including motorway projects, despite Karachi’s significant contribution to Pakistan’s economy.

Memon said the PPP would continue to protect Sindh’s constitutional rights and provincial autonomy while resisting any policies that undermine the province’s interests. He emphasised that the party remains committed to serving the people through development and democratic means.

The federal government has not officially responded to Memon’s latest remarks. Political observers believe the statement reflects growing tensions between the PPP-led Sindh government and the federal administration over governance, resource allocation, and constitutional issues.

Sharjeel Memon concluded by saying that political developments in the coming weeks would determine the future direction of national politics, insisting that the opposition would continue to hold the federal government accountable for its performance.
