Lahore: The Punjab government has decided to outsource 555 additional government schools to the private sector as part of its ongoing education reform programme aimed at improving school management and learning outcomes.
According to officials, the schools selected for outsourcing have reported low student enrollment and limited academic performance. Under the initiative, private operators will manage the institutions while ensuring continued access to education for enrolled students.
The School Education Department said the move is intended to enhance the quality of education, increase enrollment, improve infrastructure, and ensure better utilization of public resources. Teachers and students currently associated with the schools will be accommodated in line with the government’s policy.
Punjab authorities stated that the outsourcing programme has already been implemented in several schools across the province, with more institutions being included in phases as part of broader education sector reforms. Officials added that the government will continue monitoring the performance of outsourced schools to ensure educational standards are maintained.
