A nationwide crackdown against fake and unregistered medicines, including in Islamabad, is ongoing, while the Federal Ministry of National Health Services has also released details regarding the operations.
According to the Ministry of Health, several major actions have been carried out against counterfeit medicines in Karachi over the past three months. Between February and May 2026, 10 major joint raid operations were conducted in different areas. These operations were carried out in collaboration with the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) and the FIA.
During the operations, illegal drug manufacturing networks and fake medicine factories were exposed, while raids were also conducted on centers producing unregistered injections. Authorities said that large quantities of unregistered medicines, raw material for controlled drugs including Tramadol, machinery, packaging material, and counterfeit brands were recovered and confiscated. Several individuals were also arrested.

He added that the crackdown against elements involved in the illegal drug business is being intensified and strict action under the Drug Act will continue.
According to the Health Minister, ensuring the uninterrupted supply of quality and safe medicines is the government’s fundamental responsibility, and for this purpose, the monitoring system across the country is being further strengthened.
