The theft of medicines under the Chief Minister Punjab Stroke Program has been uncovered at a renowned hospital in the provincial capital.
In Lahore, injections used for the treatment of stroke patients worth Rs1.5 million were stolen from Mayo Hospital. The TP injections were reported missing from the emergency ward.
Meanwhile, the hospital administration has so far failed to trace the stolen injections worth millions of rupees.
It is worth mentioning that under the Chief Minister Stroke Program, free injections are administered to save the lives of stroke patients. The dose helps save patients’ lives and protects them from physical disability.
On the other hand, the Medical Superintendent (MS) of Mayo Hospital said that an inquiry is being conducted into the theft of the injections. The disappearance of the injections has been confirmed, and action has been initiated against five data entry operators and dispensers.
He further stated that a departmental inquiry is being conducted against the concerned employees under the PEEDA Act, and the preliminary investigation has confirmed the disappearance of the injections.
