During an important interfaith conference held at the Vatican, Pope Leo XIV urged Muslims and Christians to unite against the growing atmosphere of hatred, indifference, war, and division across the world, and to promote humanity, compassion, and peace together.
In his address, Pope Leo XIV said that the world today needs mercy, love, and human solidarity more than ever before. He stated that Muslims and Christians can work together to create an environment of peace, tolerance, and brotherhood capable of defeating hatred and hostility.
He said:
“The world has become a victim of coldness and indifference. In such times, religions must play their role in reviving humanity.”
The conference was organized jointly by Jordan’s Royal Institute for Inter-Faith Studies and the Vatican’s interreligious dialogue office. Representatives of different religions, scholars, and social figures participated in discussions about global peace, support for refugees, rehabilitation of war victims, and strengthening harmony between faiths.
Pope Leo XIV also said that in the modern age of technology and social media, people are becoming increasingly disconnected from the pain and suffering of others. Therefore, religious leaders and faith communities have a responsibility to bring people closer together and spread the message of love, mercy, and service to humanity.
In its official statement, the Vatican described helping victims of war, poverty, and displacement as both a moral and religious duty. Pope Leo XIV especially emphasized that cooperation between Muslims and Christians is essential for global peace and stability.
