Karachi: The Sindh government has revised the Eidul Azha 2026 holiday schedule, reducing the public holidays from four days to three days across the province.

According to the revised notification, public holidays will now be observed on May 26, 27 and 28, 2026, corresponding to 9th, 10th and 11th Zil Hajj 1447 AH. The earlier notification had declared holidays from May 26 to May 29, but the provincial government later amended the schedule.

The revised holidays will apply to government offices, autonomous bodies, semi-autonomous bodies, corporations and local councils working under the administrative control of the Sindh government.

However, essential services will continue to function during the holidays. Departments and offices involved in preparation of the 2026–27 provincial budget have also been exempted from the holiday schedule, meaning relevant staff may still be required to perform official duties.

The notification further states that Friday, May 29, corresponding to 12th Zil Hajj, will be observed as work from home. This means offices will not remain fully closed in the traditional sense, but official work may continue remotely where required.

The change brings Sindh’s holiday schedule in line with the federal government’s Eidul Azha holidays. Eidul Azha in Pakistan will be observed on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, after the Zilhaj moon was sighted earlier this month.

The decision is important for government employees, local bodies, public institutions and citizens planning travel or official work around Eid. With the revised schedule, regular office operations are expected to resume after the three-day break, while May 29 will be treated as a work-from-home day.
