Police in Karachi have arrested an individual impersonating a police officer during an operation in the Azizabad area, officials said on Wednesday.
According to police, the suspect was involved in extorting and robbing citizens by threatening them while posing as a police official. During the operation, two accomplices of the accused managed to flee the scene.
Police identified the arrested suspect as Shaukat, while the absconding accomplices were identified as Arif “Commando” and Saleem. Authorities stated that equipment used in the commission of the crimes was recovered from the suspect.
Police further confirmed that a fake police identity card, a police jacket, and a mobile phone were also seized from the accused. Efforts are underway to arrest the absconding suspects.
