MULTAN — Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) officials offloaded a female passenger at Multan International Airport on Thursday after discovering her travel documents were part of an illegal human smuggling scheme.

The woman, whose identity has not been released by authorities, was attempting to board an international flight bound for Italy. During the routine immigration check, FIA personnel identified discrepancies in her visa documentation. Subsequent questioning revealed the travel documents were counterfeit, intended to facilitate her entry into the European country through irregular channels.

The suspect was taken into custody immediately following the discovery. FIA’s anti-human trafficking unit has launched an investigation to identify the agents or criminal networks responsible for arranging the fraudulent paperwork.

Authorities have noted a spike in attempts to reach Europe via forged documents, often involving sophisticated, high-cost fraud schemes. For the suspect, this departure gate rejection marks the beginning of a lengthy legal process; she now faces charges under the Passport Act and the Prevention of Trafficking in Persons Act.

“We are tracking the network behind this,” an FIA official said, speaking on condition of anonymity. “This wasn’t an isolated case of human error. It was a calculated attempt to bypass legal immigration protocols using forged state documents.”

The passenger remains in FIA custody at the regional headquarters for further interrogation as investigators work to map out the syndicate involved in the operation.
