KARACHI, August 22, 2026: Gold prices in Pakistan rose sharply on Saturday, tracking a strong increase in international bullion rates as investors remained cautious amid continued geopolitical uncertainty.
According to rates issued by the All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association (APSGJA), the price of 24-karat gold jumped by Rs5,700 per tola to Rs482,936, compared with Rs477,136 in the previous session.
The price of 24-karat gold for 10 grams also increased by Rs4,972 to Rs414,039, up from Rs409,067.
In the international market, gold gained $57 per ounce, reaching $4,604 compared with $4,547 previously, according to the association.
Silver prices remained unchanged in Pakistan, with the rate holding at Rs7,379 per tola.
The rise in gold prices came as investors continued to monitor developments in the Middle East, particularly tensions between Iran and the United States and uncertainty surrounding efforts to end the conflict.
Washington and Tehran exchanged strong statements ahead of an expected announcement on Monday regarding fresh US economic sanctions that could affect Iran and some of its major trading partners, including China.
The ongoing uncertainty has continued to support demand for gold as a traditional safe-haven asset.
Meanwhile, oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz have reportedly almost come to a halt, with Tehran warning against unauthorised oil tankers attempting to pass through the strategic waterway.
